The Cadet Program helps youth develop:
Leadership and citizenship
Confidence and teamwork
Physical fitness
Practical and outdoor skills
An interest in the sea, land and air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces
Cadets are challenged to try new things, take responsibility and eventually teach others what they have learned.
Activities may include:
Sailing
Boating and canoeing
Orienteering
Marksmanship
Band and music
Camping
Drill
Summer camps
Sports
Leadership training
Activities vary throughout the training year and may be adapted according to weather, facilities and safety requirements.
Nothing! The Cadet Program is completely free.
Uniforms and most training, activities and equipment are provided. Some optional social events or personal items may have associated costs, but these will be communicated clearly in advance.
To be eligible, a cadet applicant must:
Be between 12 and 19 years of age
Be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or otherwise legally resident in Canada
Have provincial medical coverage
Be of good character
Youth with physical or medical limitations are welcome to apply. Some activities may be restricted when they present a health or safety risk. Accommodations and alternative ways to participate can be discussed with the unit.

Absolutely. Prospective cadets and their parents or guardians are welcome to visit a Wednesday training night, meet the staff and cadets, and see what we do before completing registration.
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe footwear suitable for activities. A uniform is not required for your first visit.
